Carbofuran 3 CG

This is an encapsulated granule formulation recommended for soil application in a range of crops for control of a range of pests.   It is being marketed as FURAN 3 GR by Chemet Chemicals, DON 3G by HPM, Carbomain by Adama, Current by Toshi, Sumo 3G by Insecticides India Limited, Anufuran 3G by Anu Products. Buprofezin 70 DF

This is a dry flowable (DF) formulation with an ingredient that stops the growth of larvae into an adult. Buprofezin 70% DF formulation is being marketed by Anu Products as Stalin . It is officially recommended for control of Jassids in Okra i.e. bhindi. The dose is 0.5-0.6 gram/lit and the waiting period is merely 5 days before peaking.  Farmers should experiment with this formulation instead of repeatedly using nerve and muscle pesticides. 

BUPROFEZIN 5 + Fenobucarb (BPMC) 20 SE

This is an innovative environment and user-friendly Suspoemulsion formulation of two active ingredients. One acts on nerve and muscle to kill the adults whereas another active ingredient prevents the growth of larvae. BUPROFEZIN 5% + Fenobucarb (BPMC) 20% SE formulation is being marketed by Crystal as SNAPPER. It is recommended for control of brown planthopper and green leafhopper in rice. Buprofezin 25 SC

Buprofezin 25 SC  is an insect growth regulator pesticide. It inhibits the molting of nymphs and larvae, leading to death.  It is a novel insecticide for integrated pest management (IPM) and safe for the environment. This pesticide inhibits the chitin formation of insects. As it hinders the formation of the exoskeleton in the nymphs, it leads to the death of the underdeveloped insects. Buprofezin 23.1 + Fipronil 3.85 SC

 Buprofezin 23.1% + Fipronil 3.85% SC is an excellent pesticide formula that has a combination of two active ingredients. One acts on muscle and nerve to control adults whereas the second active ingredient prevents the growth of larvae so that new adults are not formed. It is being traded by Adama as Zohar . This formulation is recommended for the control of brown planthopper in rice. The dose is 1.5 ml/lit and the waiting period is 30 days. Farmers can experiment with this pesticide for control of similar pests in similar crops with help of experts. 

Buprofezin 20 + Acephate 50 WP

This is another excellent combination of two active ingredients acting in two different ways. Buprofezin prevents the growth of larvae whereas acephate causes nerve and muscle breakdown in adult pests.  It is marketed by crystal under the trade name "Record". Officially it is recommended in only two corps. In Rice, it controls stem borer, leaf folder, and brown planthopper when sprayed @ 2gm/lit. The waiting period before harvesting is 20 days.  In cotton, it controls thrips, jassids, and mealybugs when sprayed @ 2.5 g/lit. The waiting period for peaking is 15 days. Buprofezin 15 + Acephate 35 WP

This combo pesticide is being sold as Papro by HPM, Reker by Sumitomo, Tapuz by Adama, Superstar Gold by Anu Products. Official recommendations are as below. In Cotton for control of Jassids, Thrips & Whitefly with a dose of 2.5 gm/lit In Okra for control of Jassids & Whitefly with a dose of 1.5 gm/lit. Bifenazate 22.6 SC

Amongst crowded pesticide products, Bifenazate 22.6 SC is an outstanding formulation. It acts on respiration and is based on contact. Being non-systemic it does not enter in plant and hence does not pose the least danger of residue.  It is a miticide. Makes mites hyperactive. Due to this hyperactivity, mites get tired and die off. This is an SC formulation and hence needs high precision and demanding machinery set up to manufacture.  UPL is marketing this formulation under the brand name, "Floramite" It is recommended to be used in Rose and Grapes to control two-spotted mite, Tetranychusurticae.  The dose is very low 0.25 ml per liter or 3.75-4 ml in 15 liters. Farmers may try to use this pesticide in other crops. However, while doing so keep in mind that it acts against mites only. Betacyfluthrin 8.49 + Imidacloprid 19.81 OD

This is a unique and patented oil dispersion formula. This is a special formulation for the rainy season. Its price may be premium hence farmers may not use it during the non-rainy season.  This a combination of active ingredients. One is systemic and the other is contact, however, both working on nerve and muscle. Show knockdown effect.  Bayer is selling this formula as Solomon . It is recommended for control of Aphids, Jassids, shoot & fruit borer in brinjal whereas girdle beetle and semi looper in soybean.  The dose is almost 5-7 ml per 15-liter water.

AZADIRACHTIN 5% Conc

This active ingredient is separated from the water-soluble extract of neem seed kernel. Perfectly botanical, one of the most active, proven biopesticides. Farmers are requested to note that this formulation will never show immediate results, (in case your formula is showing immediate knockdown it means that it is duplicate and may contain some molecule that will show residue. Beware of this. This active ingredient deters pests from taking food. As they lose the desire to eat/suck, they stop growing, stop reproducing, and die hungry.  If your crop is showing a massive attack of pests, use a common Nerve and Muscle pesticide first. This will reduce the pest population to great extent. Then use Azadirachtin formulation as a follow-up spray. You can use this formulation as preventive too. Alphamethrin 10 EC

This is quite a popular contact and stomach mode pesticide which acts on the nerve and muscle of the pest. It is recommended to control bollworm, jassids, thrips, stem borer, leafhopper, brown planthopper, white back plant hopper, Fruit borer, etc It can be effectively used on cotton, cereals and pulses, vegetables, fruits, oilseeds, tea and tobacco, and other crops. As it shows ovicidal action, it controls all stages of pests.  Available in the market under various tradenames as indicated below. Alphacypermethrin 10 EC and SC

 Alphacypermethrin affects nerve and muscle. Being non-systemic, it does not spread through plant juices. It is a contact and stomach pesticide. It enters in pest directly. As it does not enter the plant, it can be easily washed off. It won't give residue in the harvested produce.  It is recommended for the control of bollworms in cotton. Farmers can experiment with its use against similar pests on other crops.  It is available in EC as well as SC forms. EC form is available in trade name Ghatak (Toshi), ALPHAGIN 10 EC (Chemet Chemicals). EC formulations form milky emulsion immediately after addition to water. It is a simple formulation and does not require much skill to manufacture.  Whereas SC formulation is tough to formula. It needs costly formulation machinery and SC formulations are more friendly to the environment and user. PENDULUM is the trade name of this formula from Gharda Chemicals. 

ACETAMIPRID 4 + FIPRONIL 4 SC

This is a combination of two pesticides both of which act on Nerve and Muscle. Although the percent of the active ingredient is low, the combination shows synergistic acitivy.   This pesticide is sold by HPM as TYPHON .  Officially it is recommended for suppression of aphid, jassid, whitefly on cotton. This is a suspendable concentrate formulation hence ingredients should be highly micronized and need the use of high-value suspending agents. Hence farmers should prefer well-branded formulation purchased from authentic sources.  In cotton, the dose is 2 ml per lit, 30 days. Farmers should experiment with these pesticides in other crops where the problem of aphid, jassid, and whitefly is prominent. Acephate 25% + Fenverlate 3% EC is combo pesticides that affects nerve and muscle of  pest. Officially this is recommended for control of american bollworm and sucking pests in cotton. Acephate 50 + Imidacloprid 1.8 SP

 Acephate 50% + Imidacloprid 1.8% SP is a nerve and muscle pesticide recommended for a range of pests in cotton and rice.  In cotton it is used to control aphid, jassids, thrips, whitefly, bollworms whereas In rice, it is used to control brown planthopper, green leafhopper, stem borer & leaf folder The dose is 2 grams per liter in both crops. Application is foliar and in cotton, it can be sprayed 40 days before starting peaking. It is being sold by UPL as Lancergold and Panther Gold by National Pesticides. Although this is the most popular product, farmers should search this blog for finding alternative pesticides so as to avoid residue in the final product. Abamectin 1.9 EC

Abamectin 1.9% EC is being sold by Crystal under brand name Abacin. This pesticide affects Nerve & Muscle of pests. It is mainly used for control of Mites in most fruit vegetable crop. Officially it is recommended for Rose and Grapes. Farmers are suggested to use pesticides acting on Growth and/or Respiration along with Abamectin 1.9% EC. Acephate 95SG

This is a popular nerve and muscle pesticide. It is being sold as Hunk by TataRallis.  Its recommendation is limited to for control of Yellow stem borer, Brown plan hopper, and leaf folder in rice. The dose is 1-1.2 grams per liter. Pesticide should not be used in the last 30 days of crop life.  Farmers are requested to search this blog for more efficient alternative pesticides as this overused pesticide may fail in controlling pests moreover may show residue effect.

Being a high content formulation, its doses are 0.5-1.25 gram per liter. However, we suggest farmers to use more proficient and safe formulations available in market.
